SCE Bison

Shane Christian Eason, is a Canadian born filmmaker, time-based media artist, curator and educator living in Miami/Fort Lauderdale. His small art-house film production consortium Black Iron Films specializes in experimental and documentary film, media installation, and film curating.

Eason, who holds a BFA in Film and Video from the University of Regina and an MFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University has extensive skill and experience working with analog and digital film technology and software. He is the acting Multimedia Production Coordinator with the School of Communication & Multimedia Studies at Florida Atlantic University and is responsible for the instruction of film production courses offered at the institution. Prior to his time in Florida, Eason taught film production with the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University.

Additionally, Eason has been actively involved and employed with a number of nonprofit exhibition spaces, cooperatives, and galleries dedicated to the support of emerging independent artists and filmmakers. Some include:

As a curator, Eason has programmed, screened and exhibited a number of internationally renowned experimental and documentary filmmakers. He has also hosted a number of ongoing annual film screenings and lectures. Recent curating and programming efforts include:

As for Eason’s film work, it’s best canonized as formal experimental-documentary film that employs conscious studies in self-identity and abstraction. With the support of Canadian and American granting agencies such as SASKFilm, Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative, Main Film and Kickstarter, his work has been exhibited and screened internationally in galleries, festivals, conferences and classrooms.
